Many of you don't like the term
"harness" and you are right. As it is
said in any dictionary, this term come
from Middle-Ages and was used as a
piece of equipment in chivalry in
relation with horses. The terms "reins"
used in United Kingdom is also related
to horses. Even if harnesses or
leashes are related with animals,
mainly horses and dogs, it is different
for any caring parents. That is why the
term safety belt is better like the word
"lisières " in French which means "
limits " This piece of clothing has a
function, that of limiting the space
surrounding a child for his own
security. At first looking, a child on
"leashes" can be seen as a kid in
punishment, mainly when the parents
are yanking on the rein. How many
people before having kids complains
about harnesses but when they are
parents, it is a gift of God to use this
safety device. I hope just that kids will
be enough conscious of dangers to
have not to be leashed so late. But with
some kids autists or having space
problems, it could be useful until an old
age.
